Local Public and Private Schools

Carlisle Area School District (CASD)

The CASD is the school district that serves the students living on Post and in the areas located closest to the Army War College.  There are seven elementary schools (three serve the Post), two middle schools, and one high school in the CASD.  Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade are educated in one of these schools. 

In 1996, the CASD was ranked by Money Magazine as one of the top 100 public school systems in the country. 

In 2000 the Carlisle Area School District was selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as one of three school districts in the state to be awarded a four million dollar grant to develop a digital school of the future. As a result the Fowler Educational Technology Center was opened on the High School Main Campus in 2003.
