What’s your idea of adventure? Indoor rock climbing? White water
rafting or kayaking? How about hiking, fishing or camping? We have
programs to get you there, and we’re adding new adventures each month.
If you don't find activities that you enjoy on our list, we’ll create
a private adventure just for you. Call the Carlisle Barracks Outdoor
Recreation program. These programs provide soldiers and their families with
opportunities to participate in, and enjoy, the great outdoors by
offering outdoor activities and adventure.
In addition, FMWR Outdoor Recreation offers
paintball, mountain biking, camping equipment rental, event rentals and
other adventure activities. We plan, and run
programs to include skiing, hiking, and fishing trips for your family
or seminar.
Equipment Rentals
The Outdoor Recreation branch is the proponent for all
equipment rentals. Rentals include sheltered pavilions located at
various locations on post, canopies, gas and charcoal "mega-cookers",
banquet tables, pop-up trailers, RV's fishing boats, canoes, kayak's
and all camping supplies. Rentals and reservations may be made by
calling Outdoor Recreation.

RV and Pop-Up Camper Rentals
Outdoor Recreation also has RV and pop-up campers available for
rent.
The RV's are located in Dogwood Acres Campground. The campground
is located approximately 13 miles west of Carlisle, PA. The RV's remain
in the campground at all times. We have 3 RV's and all are completely
outfitted (except for linens). Each one has its own bathroom and air
conditioning/heating.
The pop-up campers are located at Carlisle Barracks and can be taken
to a campsite of your choosing. Each pop-up is equipped with a kitchen
and a heating system.

Join Outdoor Recreation and experience Musikfest 2010 in Bethlehem, PA. Musikfest is an annual 10-day musical extravaganza that attracts more than one million people from throughout the US and abroad. Almost every musical genre conceivable is represented. Most acts are free and do not require a ticket. Only the shows at Sands River Place and shows that are part of the Performing Arts and Candlelight Concert Series require tickets. Musikfest is never the same twice. From musicians to themes, food and venues, each 'fest is uniquely it's own. Meet at MWR parking lot (building 632, Wright Avenue) at 9 am, return at 10 pm. Paintball at Ski Roundtop with Outdoor Recreation |

Ski Roundtop paintball is the largest and most varied operation in the region. With seven fields including airball, a fort and scenario fields featuring landing craft, a glider, tanks and a helicopter, they have the perfect field for your game. Package includes 500 paintballs, marker, face mask and goggle rental, air/CO2, field fees and safety presentation. Minimum age for participation is 10 years old. Meet at the MWR parking lot at 9 am, return by 5 pm.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to go spelunking? Then this is the trip for you. Join us as we explore deep into Laurel Cavern. This staff assisted caving trip permits you to see over two miles of cave covering both the undeveloped cave and the lighted portions. Most of the passages are between ten and forty feet high. Minimum age for participation is 12 years old. Meet at the MWR parking lot at 6:30 am, return by 6 pm. |

Dogwood Acres Campground
Looking for a place where you can get away, but won’t be bored? Then bring your
tent, pop-up camper, travel trailer or motorhome to Dogwood Acres
Campground, or even better rent a trailer through Outdoor Recreation.
Enjoy the wildlife of a blossoming Blue Mountain springtime or colorful
fall sites. The kids will find plenty to do at their new swimming pool,
unique swimming pond, playground and 9-hole “Frisbee golf” course,
while the whole family can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing and pedal
boating at our lake. There is always a lot to do at Dogwood Acres,
including special events and planned activities. Come and experience
their personal attention and variety of services they offer their
guests.
Outdoor Recreation has 3 trailers on site at Dogwood Acres available for
rental. This means that you do not have to hassle with towing a camper
around or worry about parking it.
